The development of three Lidl retail units gives the local communities access to the fifth largest international retailer. With eight-hundred stores in the UK; providing twenty-three thousand jobs nationwide, there is a noticeable economic value/gain to this development from the leading discounter supermarket, Lidl. The construction of the retail units and twelve, three bed apartments has brought profitable significance to the local and surrounding areas of Swindon and Plymouth as well as jobs to the local community with the stores.
